Perluang & Kreativity

Hiroshima and Nagasaki Today

We all know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed in August 1945 after explosion of atom bomb. However little we know about progress the people of that land made during the past 62 years.

Here are some photos.

Panas! Panas! Panas!

Cuaca panas disini! Tak boleh tahan! Tak tahulah kenapa. Kipas berpusing tapi masih tak dapat hilangkan rasa panas. Peluh dibadan masih juga mengalir! Air-con di pasangan dingin pula sebelah paginya! Tarik selimut! Subuh memenunggu tetamunya, tak boleh leka! Wajib bangun! Mandi!

Semalam terkena pada Tuah and Dolly.

Malas nak cerita, sakitkan hati! Silap cerita nanti kita kena tangkap!

Mr. Sunny 130Y

Pagi tadi kami sekeluarga ke Seremban. Singgah buat 'realingment' kereta kat Cempaka for RM25.

Mr. Sunny 130Y puas hati. Semua ok, pasal Sunny 130Y.

Last, last rupanya cerita nak tompang ke Rahang area kat bomba..oklah takde hal sebab tak jauh. On the way. ternampak sebuah Sunny 130Y..on the road, tapi bonnet belakangnya ternganga! "Is that your Sunny!" saya bergurau "Eh..no lah..he must have forgotten to lock the boot!" katanya. Bestnya, cerita tu ngam dengan peristiwa sepanjang pagi.

Mr, Sunny 130Y buka cerita Amway, buka cerita Kanada..dan terus dia soal."you want free ticket to Kanada? I can give you 2 free tickets!" Tak pernah ku dengar offer macam ni..betul kah orang ni. So jawab ok saja, afterall takde apa nak dibayar. Kita bertukar no. hp..dan kita lihatlah nanti betul tak cerita Mr. Sunny 130Y ini!

What about Dubai? Some facts....

Dubai in 1990 prior to the craziness

The same street in 2003!

Last year!!

The madness. Dubai is said to currently have 15-25% of all the world's cranes.

The Palm Islands in Dubai. New Dutch dredging technology was used to create these massive man made islands. They are the largest artificial islands in the world and can be seen from space. Three of these Palms will be made with the last one being the largest of them all. All of this was built in the last 5 years, including that island that looks like a palm tree. Upon completion, the resort will have 2,000 villas, 40 luxury hotels, shopping centers, movie theaters, and many other facilities. It is expected to support a population of approximately 500,000 people. It is advertised as being visible from the moon.

The World Islands. 300 artificially created islands in the shape of the world. Each island will have an estimated cost of $25-30 million.
Wow! Canggihkan?

Pokok misteri ~ Mysterious Tree

At a glance you may be confused the above tree with a massive trunk with a 'Baobab' tree (which is renowned to possess the largest tree trunks of the world) but, this is yet another unknown specie which is seen in the close proximity of a hermitage deep in the dense forest in 'Andra Pradesh' in India.

Agrotani..usahawan sambilan..

Sayur dibawa balik minggu lepas baru habis supply semalam.

All has past but not forgotten..

Cousin Mawi spoked about the RM1 monkey! And I happened to have the photoshot taken by my father of that moment, my brother and his monkey - Zimbo. For more story please click ZIMBO

About Zimbo, the monkey, became our pet and was with for many years until the chain could no longer withstand his strengths and he showed his fangs too often. He must go.

My late father, took him to the forest of the Canadian Hill and released him there. Freedom for Zimbo. It was a sad moment to have a pet and when time like that, it was for the best of all, Zimbo and us.

40 years later, my brother is operating a decent familly business and Zimbo that cost RM1 was never heard of but his decendents are surely in the forest of the Canadian Hill.

He ain't heavy, he's my brother...

My younger brother and his family members are united in making a living. I have the opportunity to sit with them at their snack's site in front of the Miri Chinese Chamber at Jalan Raja. The snacks are great, barbequed chicken wings, hotdogs, etc and also newly fried noodles and other local delights like donuts, cucur..good taste and great for afternoon snacks. They are open from 2pm till 8 or 9 in the evening.

Best is, snacks are great, cheap and value for money!

You may asked? Arsenal, Tottemham supporters at my bro's snack stall? Why? No lah, just want to make ourselves happy! We looked ok, are we not?....

O mak I!

Pasar Ahad, Salak, Sepang. Bangla hampiri gerai ikan.."Ada ikan puyu?" .."O mak I!, Dio cari ikan puyu! Sini ikan laut! Nak ikan puyu, tangkap sendiri!" Dalam loghat nogerinya. Tapi bukan maksudnya menhentam bangla tu, tidak, lagipun bangla tu tak faham apa dikatakannya. Mungkin dia sedang berjenaka.

Malam datang,....O mak I...ngantok!

Kerja Lama, Tempat Lama

So macam mana?

A day for memory lane...

Telekom Malaysia will be facing a nationwide picket by the National Union of Telecommunication Employees (NUTE) this Tuesday 18 March 2008. The picket is as a mean to protest against TM’s implementation of the Employee’s Share Option Scheme (ESOS). Together with NUTE, the picket will be also joined by Sabah Union of Telecommunication Employees (SUTE) and the Union of Telecommunication Employees Sarawak (UTES) who will be staging the protest in their respective states.
According to NUTE president, Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal said the picket was due to the unfair allocation of shares where TM’s management had no clear formula for allocation. TM was also said to have failed in disclosing the information about the whole process, and did not discuss the terms and conditions of allocation with the unions. The unions are also not satisfied with the overall ‘outsourcing’ handling by the company.
“The decision made by TM shareholders during the extraordinary general meeting was well-received by the three unions. However, the three unions unequivocally and wholly reject the manner and procedure of the ESOS exercise,” said Shafie to NST.
25 pickets will be held in the Peninsular Malaysia and three in Sabah and Sarawak.
In October 2006, more than 500 members of NUTE organized a picket in front of Telekom Malaysia HQ in Kuala Lumpur in protest of their ‘insourcing’ activity of the call centers to VADS Berhad, a company majority-owned by TM. The employees were the staff of TM Call Center at the Retail Customer Contact Center (TMRCC). During the same time, about 800 employees in Sabah and Sarawak picketed in the respective states.

Harry Potter ( My Grandsons's favorite)

"Where are the DVDs?" Today's 4 years old are widgets' savvy! Can't blame them for my other two kaput DVD players. Harry Porter's movies are indeed exciting and yes, just let enjoy the movies and half way through they fell asleep then you take over to watch the TV. So, just can't have the DVDs lying around if you want to take control of the TV. It will be a nightmare to see the same DVD over and over again. Sometime I think I wanted to break the DVDs into pieces....hmmm..better not, just watch Harry Porter..

Be Strong. Stand-up face the world!

Changing habits is not an overnite sensation. Habits are results of consistent following a guided pattern of doing things. Procedures are laid like food served on tray. You take it in the most effective way you think best and then repeated doing the same thing over and over again to make it perfect. The more frequent it is done, the better you are and later, the guidelines can be put aside. A new culture has been developed. Things will happen naturally.

Question is, how long can you developed this process, from designing habits to creating a culture? A day? A week? A month? 10 years maximum for big corporation! (Motorola). I have got some feedbacks from people I work with before...5 years down the road I received a phone call, telling me they are getting the fruits of their investments. That the patience that you have to bear in developing cultures NOT an overnite sensation. Performance will see yo-yo because of the unlearn and relearn and you can see spotty improvement here and there. These will create internal competition among units or teams to make theirs the best! This is healthy. Over time, you will notice gradual improvements.

The trouble with people now is that you have a period of 3 years to make the difference! Waiting is no longer an exception. Hunting and fishing should be fast! Use granades use the tiger trawler's net! It will be efficient but not good in the long run. The hunters and the fishermen will surely have a bleak future. Maybe exhausted. Reasons being, competition, staying alive. Can't they feel that the ground is shaking? Some people are often blinded by what they are after.

Talking about burning platform, the same people have been sitting on hot plates ensuring deliverables are coming over and over again. Here we go again, the phrase they used to say! Well, it a job, anyway, some people come and go but others are here to stay! The veterans have seen the changed of the guards and how those left behind are cleaning the shits they have left behind! No need to mention here, just ask the veterans!

No matter what, you have got to believe in what you are doing. Let's try to understand how some tasks are to be delivered. The right culture will give the desired numbers, consistently and rising as processes matures. Rangers and infantry have the same vision but they mission and tasks differs.

So change agents, stand strong and face the world, you know your craft well and hope that sometime and somewhere down the road you might be receiving a phone call but definitely not tomorrow!

The Walls have Ears!!

Train your ears to listen and you get much out of it. Commuting in trains can furnished you with lots of information but some are just noises. What are the jobs available? Who and who and where? Wow..and what happening with that company or department? Just close your eyes and pretend you are asleep and have your mind wondering. It is tiring though, because most does not affect you. Some might make you tickle then you need to control your giggle by turning away your face toward the window if you are sitting next to it or just hold your bag and bowed. The worst or most exciting talks you can capture is on the way back after work. Information will flow, pleanty of them, but just wondering if you are multilangual, imagine the data you will be compiling! Maybe some details next time.

Come Election Same Story...

Everyone pointing fingers at each other. The SPR and the political parties (both pro and oppo) taichi here and taichi there. This is the 5th election for me and same thing also I hear, never resolved. Okaylah we take every year 100 years old people died since I first took my vote 25 years ago; so 100 x 25 = 2,500. Then, 8,666-2,500= 7,166 people have come to the age of 100 since then making it a record for us to have 285 people reaching 100 years old every year for the last 25 years! What a record!

The records might not be accurate but, but at least you make some justification why the records are wrong rather than making simple analogy of what may have happened. This is no monkey business. The next election the same issue will arise and the same answer will echo.

Thinking of Buying New Tyres?

Buying new tyres can be a big investment. But have you really thought whether you have bought reasonable new tyres? How would you determine if the tyre is new or old? I never knew this trick before. (Siew of Kuching told me how)
I took the picture of my car's tyre and yes, you can understand more by learning from the picture attached.

30 years ago we were recruited almost together...

When old friends met nothing is more demanding than the togetherness. Old talks, of the yester years, laughed at what used to be funny and the still remembering how we behave and play out trainers and friends. More questions of old colleagues and lunch time was just not enough. Those were the days, my friends.

Now, we are almost getting our pencen, some of you have, well good for you, I have another year to get my pencen. Will join the club soon. Thanks for the long discussions at lunch today at MMC.

Makan sedap selepas undi cap Cawan dan Sudu

Pak Imam, ayahanda-ayahanda, bonda-bonda, abang-abang, adik-adik terima kasih kerana dapat datang keceramah saya malam ini. Tidak lama lagi kita mulai membuang undi. Jangan risau jangan gundah, semuanya kan selamat. (Baru semalam ada polis tembak 3 perompak kat PJ, Selangor). Kita selamat. Ada peluru sesat tak? Tak ada cerita pasal peluru sesat. Macammana ada peluru sesat? Selamat. Perompak pun tembak tak tentu arah, mereka pun main selamat.

So member and keluarga kat Miri bolehlah jumpa nanti.

Nadia terpelanting keluar. Rakan2 nya terperangkap dalam kereta. sekarang Nadia masih dihospital, memang sakit tapi dah stabil. (Cerita ni dari Halil, Kuching)

Musibah datang tanpa diundang. Kita kena jaga langkah kita. Suka sekejap saja, duka kita tanggung sepanjang masa. Berhati-hati dijalan raya.

I know what I did on Saturday's afternoon....

It is Ibrahim's daughter wedding today at Bkt. Kemuning, Shah Alam. I was alone and started converstions with the local as if I have always been there. Well, ok the daging palembang was good. It was a heaty afternoon and on my way back, feeling bored I just sing along session "You my everything" on the USJ/KLIA Highway.
